The Law Amending the Political Pension
Law

The State Peace and Development Council hereby
enacts the following
1. This Law shall be called
the Law Amending the Political Pension Law.
2. Sub-section (a) and sub-section
(b) of section 17 of the Political Pension shall be substituted
by the following sub-section (a) and sub-section (b) : -
(a) There is the right to enjoy political
gratuity only after completion of a total period of at least
4 years, during which political responsibility was carried
out. However, the political gratuity shall be enjoyed only
when assignment of political responsibility is not continued.
In calculating the political gratuity, it shall be the political
gratuity equivalent to the salary determined for one month,
according to the political responsibility for each year
of the period during which political responsibility was
carried out.
(b) After carrying out the political responsibility
satisfactorily, if assignment of responsibility is not continued
due to reason of health , injury or organization purpose
or death, there is the right to enjoy political gratuity
for the period during which political responsibility was
carried out ,without the stipulation of period of political
responsibility.
In calculating the political gratuity it shall be the political
gratuity equivalent to the salary determined for one month,
according to the political responsibility for each year
of the period during which political responsibility was
carried out.
3. The provisions relating
to political gratuity contained in section 2 of this Law shall
have effect from 1st February, 2001.
